Sennelier Oil Pastels (Pastels à l'Huile),
manufactured in Paris, are made with carefully selected mineral and
organic pigments, mixed with a specially formulated non-drying binder, and
combined with the finest quality wax.The exceptionally creamy texture of
Sennelier Oil Pastels is achieved through the perfect blending of
these three elements. Sennelier Oil Pastels adhere strictly to standards
for acid-free and archival permanence. The binder and mineral wax
are both acid-free The resulting sticks feel like a soft
pastel, but look and act like oil paints. Less fragile
than traditional pastels, they can be built up to create
heavy impasto effects, or combined with oil painting mediums for
glazing and wash techniques. Sennelier Oil Pastels can be combined
with other painting mediums to achieve unique effects. The concentration of
high-quality pigments used in Sennelier Oil Pastels gives them exceptional
covering power, vibrancy, and intensity. Sennelier Oil Pastels contain no
oxidants. This guarantees preservation of the color intensity of the
pigments without yellowing or cracking, and it also prevents deterioration
of the surface or support. Because they contain no oxidants,
oil pastels will never dry out, but the surface can
be sealed with a fixative. Individual sticks are paper wrapped,
and measure 2-5/8" × 3/8" (67 mm × 10 mm).

Interesting Items:
Escoda Teijin Synthetic Short Handle - Escoda Teijin fiber is a synthetic with thicker and stiffer fibers for
work with heavier bodied paints. It's a great brush for painters using
gouache, egg tempera, and even acrylic paints. The Teijin fiber is maroon
colored and holds its shape and edge extremely well even with thicker
paints. It works well in watercolor for edge and snap, but holds
less water. The short black lacquered wood handle is triple crimped to
the nickel-plated brass ferrule. |

Sennelier Watercolors - Dick Blick
is proud to present the complete palette of French watercolors from Sennelier
of Paris. Sennelier was founded in 1887 in a shop across from
the Louvre, just steps from the School of Beaux Arts. Gustave Sennelier
mixed oil colors and watercolors for some of the most notable painters
of the time including Cézanne, Picasso, Bonnard, Gauguin, Dali, Modigliani, Soutine, Degas,
Monet, and Kandinsky, as well as for nearby students. Although Sennelier still
grinds each pigment and its medium on a surface of granite, to
obtain the proper consistency, the entire Sennelier line has been updated to
reflect 21st century advances in pigment composition, resulting in the lightfastness desired
by today's painters. These rich and intense colors are extremely fine and
luminous, well worth their cost. Colors are available in two tube sizes
— 10 ml (.33 oz) and 21 ml (.71 oz). Gift Idea
